Location is excelent. Nice value paid for a New York hotel.
If you carry big and/or heavy suitcases the stairway is hard and narrow.

Great communication with the staff about apartment prior to trip; excellent location, cleanliness; service available for luggage storage. Good value for money with Internet and excellent safe neighborhood. staff was responsive and congenial.
No mention during booking it was a 3 story walk up to the 4th floor flat.

It was okay, but as with almost all accommodation in USA, there were always things not right - in the case of this place, previous lodgers dirty towels were hanging on the back of the bathroom door, the internet didn't work well one floor up from the ground floor.

Price and location
The building is old and the room shows its age. This building appears to have been built around the turn of, or early 20th century for apartment living. The room had a faint odor of urine, was cooled with a window-unit a/c that was directly over one of the beds. Shower walls mildewed. Four story walk-up--no elevator. No staff on scene, other than a maid, who did not service the room. Location is good--close to restaurants, bars, shopping and only four blocks from the subway.

Very pleasant old world feeling, roomy, quiet and comfortable. It is not a traditional hotel, more like your own apartment in the city and it's relaxing not to worry about hotel staff coming in to clean. Owners make it extremely easy to arrive and leave, no lines to wait on.
I think Tissues and another Wastebasket would have been useful.
